Can there be a more boring word...

than cloture?

We think not. So what's your method for writing around it? Particularly when you're writing about a cloture vote, as anyone reporting on the Dream Act today is doing. Submit tips if you've got 'em! Thanks!

I don't think anyone outside the Beltway understands cloture, except for ex-Washingtonians, so I agree the word is boring and shouldn't be used. I try my best to phrase it this way, "Sen. X voted to move to final passage" when voting for cloture or "Sen. Y voted against proceeding to final passage..." or something like that.
